Christensen was discovered for his acting in the 5th installment of sci-fi film series. Today, he shares why he quit acting after playing in the film Star Wars as Anakin Skywalker.
In a candid interview, the 90 Minutes in Heaven star sees success and fame as a ‘fraud,’ and that it was ‘little too handed’ for him.
As he stated to the Los Angeles Times,
‘I guess I felt like I had this great thing in Star Wars that provided all these opportunities and gave me a career, but it all kind of felt a little too handed to me,’
He added,
‘I didn’t want to go through life feeling like I was just riding a wave.’
He preferred a simpler lifestyle than the glam of Hollywood, as he decidedly turned to a part-time farmer.
In terms of being a farmer, he bought a farm for himself in Canada near Uxbridge, Ontario. With this, he learned about agricultural machinery, crops, and livestock.
As he explained,
‘There was something in the back of my head that was like, ‘if this time away is gonna be damaging to my career, then so be it. If I can come back afterwards and claw my way back in then maybe I’ll feel like I earned it.’
In addition, he never totally disappeared from the film industry entirely after he took a break from the success of Stat Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith last 2005. As he was seen taking the lead role in a Christian drama film “90 Minutes in Heaven.”
He was then received negative reviews from viewers in which did not fully matched the success during his time in Star Wars.
